If you have sailed with Disney Cruise Line before, half the pleasure is knowing what you are going to order before you have even boarded. That fried Brie. The pasta with the lobster in it. Disney has refreshed the menus across the original four ships, and a lot of that is gone.
What has gone
At Royal Palace and Royal Court, the Breaded and Deep-Fried Brie has been replaced by Burrata and the Chateaubriand filet steak by a Carved Roasted Beef Tenderloin. The lobster has come out of both the Iced Lobster and Jumbo Shrimp starter and the pasta. The Crispy Roasted Duck Breast and the Apple Tart Tatin have gone entirely.
Animator's Palate lost the Chocolate Fudge Cheesecake, the Lemon Icebox Pie and the Deconstructed Carrot Cake. Enchanted Garden, which is only on the Dream and the Fantasy, lost the Pearl-Barley Cakes, the Glazed Portobello Mushrooms and the Orange Yogurt Cake.
Survivors in name only
Two are worth knowing about, because you will order them expecting the old version. The Duck Confit is now built around dates, apricot and saffron rather than dried cranberries and walnuts. The Grilled Tuna Steak has swapped its fingerling confit and caponata for black bean, queso fresco and a corn-chipotle salsa.
Whether any of it is an improvement, we cannot yet say. We are on the Dream in August and we will report back then,
