Beyond the Mouse
As much as we love Disney, life isn't all ears and pixie dust — so this is where everything else lives. Expect a proper mix: other theme parks, days out, holidays, food finds, events, and yes, the occasional Disney show or pop-up that catches our eye. Basically, if it's worth writing about and it isn't Walt or a cruise ship, it'll end up here. So come with us as we explore beyond the Mouse
We are Disney people first and foremost, but every so often something comes along that is too much fun to leave alone. Secret Cinema's Grease at Evolution London in Battersea Park is one of those things. Having grown up watching this film more times than we can count, knowing the songs word for word and having seen it on stage at least six times, this was one we had to go and experience for ourselves.
As soon as we bought our tickets the planning commenced, as of course it would be wrong not to go dressed for the part. Here is what the night actually looks like from the inside.

Why we started
Some of our friends have been playing Lorcana for a while now. We had seen it for sale in shops and online, and there were posts about it going round on social media. That piqued our curiosity and we thought why not.After a little bit of research on what is the best way to start, we bought the Gateway set, and it turned out to be the right call. It is designed as a learn to play box, and everything in it is built around getting two complete beginners to the point where they can play properly. The basics of the game are that you play your deck of cards to gain lore, and the first player to reach twenty lore is the winner.
Our Gateway box arrived and excitedly we opened it. Inside we found two starting decks of thirty cards, a game board, damage counters, character movers, a rulebook and a guidebook. There are also four additional sealed packs, numbered one to four, marked do not open yet. The reason being that you slowly work through a series of guided games, and at the end of each of the first four games you open the next pack, which adds more to your deck. Once all the packs are open you end up with two decks of sixty six cards, of which you only need sixty to play.
The Mundo Pixar event in Wembley, London was one of those places that, when it was first announced, I wasn't sure about going to. However, after seeing the pictures and other people's reviews, I decided that maybe this was one of those events not to be missed — and I am so pleased that I did decide to go.
Mr Disney (Wayne) has always wanted to visit Kennedy Space Center. I, on the other hand, wasn't so sure. Now don't get me wrong - I'm not completely oblivious to space. Growing up I have watched a few of the shuttle launches on television, including the sad one, and we have visited a handful of space exhibits over the years, including the National Space Centre in Leicester. The thought of going into space does fascinate me and I have watched a few films on space and space travel — factual as well as fictional. But at heart I am a Disney girl, and I simply wasn't sure whether Kennedy Space Center would be my kind of thing.
