So you've booked your Disney Dream sailing and you're counting down the days… and then someone in the group mentions "online check-in" and "port arrival times" and you're suddenly wondering if you've missed something. Don't panic — here's everything you need to know! 💙

When does online check-in open?

This is the bit that trips a lot of first-timers up. Check-in doesn't open the same day for everyone — it's staggered depending on your Castaway Club status (that's Disney's loyalty club, which you join automatically after your very first sailing). The more you've sailed, the earlier you get in:

  • Pearl & Concierge guests – 40 days before sailing
  • Platinum – 38 days before
  • Gold – 35 days before
  • Silver – 33 days before
  • First-time cruisers – 30 days before

If this is your first Disney cruise, that's your 30-day mark to circle on the calendar! 📅

Why the alarm clock?

I know, I know 😴 But the earlier Port Arrival Times genuinely go quickly, so plenty of seasoned sailors treat it like a little "Cinderella moment" and log on bang on time.

Everything happens through the Disney Cruise Line website, or you can use the Navigator app. I find doing the check-in on the website easier — it means you're not worrying about losing mobile phone signal or your phone going flat on you. What you'll need to have ready

It's always best to be prepared ahead of time, so you're not scrabbling around at 5am and waking everyone up!

  • A clear headshot photo of each guest (security uses this — think passport-style, but you can snap it on your phone)
  • Passport details (and a photo of the passport). If you're sailing from the USA, you'll also need to upload a copy of your ESTA or visa as evidence that you're permitted to travel to the country 🇺🇸
  • A credit/debit card to put on your onboard account (your "folio" — this is how you pay for everything on the ship). Prefer not to add a card just yet? You can set your account up as cash instead and add a card later if you change your mind! 💰
  • ✈️ Your travel details — flights, arrival and departure info
  • 📞 An emergency contact who isn't sailing with you

💡 Top tip: It's well worth giving your card provider a quick call before you travel to let them know you'll be away and that Disney Cruise Line will be charging your card. This helps stop the bank flagging it as suspicious activity and blocking the card — especially if it's your first cruise with Disney! 🏦✅

The check-in process is quite simple and easy — well, most of the time! Just follow the instructions and take your time. Once you've completed one stage you'll be able to move onto the next section.

Choosing your Port Arrival Time (PAT)

This is worth getting right. Near the end of check-in, you'll choose your Port Arrival Time — the slot you're booked to arrive at the terminal on embarkation day. The earlier your slot, the earlier you're onboard — which means more time to explore the ship, grab lunch and hit the pools before everyone else! 🏊

The earliest times get snapped up fast, which is exactly why people set that alarm. That said — don't stress if you don't grab the very first slot. An hour or so either way really won't change your day, and you'll be onboard having the best time regardless! 🥳

Pearl or Concierge? You don't need to worry about grabbing a slot — you can simply arrive whenever you're ready to board the ship! 🎉

Using Disney transport to get to the port? A Port Arrival Time will be allocated for you, so that side of things is taken care of. ✅

"Pending"? Don't panic!

Once you've finished your check-in, you might notice it shows as pending — and that's completely normal! 😌 This part is checked over by an actual person, so it can sit as "pending" right up until you arrive at the port. It does not mean anything's gone wrong — you're still going on your cruise! 🚢💙A few final tips

  • Have everyone's documents and photos ready  beforehand — it makes the whole thing a breeze
  • Take a moment to double-check names and passport details match exactly before you submit — it saves any hassle later on

And that's it! Once you're checked in, you're officially counting down — time to start packing!
