Disney Cruise Line has moved the goalposts again. During Disney's third quarter earnings report redraws the fleet timeline was updates and it brings the whole expansion forward by a year.
Three ships in one year
2029 is the headline. Three new ships are now due in that single calendar year: Ship 11, the Japan ship being built for Oriental Land Company, and Ship 12 late in the year. Ship 13 follows in late 2030.
The original plan spread the last three ships across 2029, 2030 and 2031. Pulling two of them forward means the full thirteen-ship fleet should be sailing by the end of 2030.
What we still don't know
Almost everything. None of those four ships has a name, a theme or a confirmed homeport. Ships 11, 12 and 13 belong to the smaller class Disney announced in 2025, sized between the Magic and the Dream, and that is about all Disney has said.
The Japan ship is the exception. It will be a sister to the Wish, based in Japan year-round, and operated by Oriental Land Company under licence rather than by Disney Cruise Line.
With D23 just around the corner, will we find out more about what these new ships will be like? And does this mean that its nearly time to say goodbye to the Disney Magic and Disney WOnder?
