Today, 1 October 2026, marks the 55th anniversary of the most magical place on earth, Walt Disney World.
Joe Schott, Walt Disney World president, took to the castle stage just before the park opened to greet the crowds. He reminded them that the resort started with one park, two hotels and a campground: the Contemporary, the Polynesian and Fort Wilderness, all still welcoming guests today.
A few familiar characters then joined him to wave and dance with the crowd, and opening day cast members posed for photos in front of the castle.
