Its Showtime

One of the biggest and most anticipated showcases at D23 is the Disney's Experiences Showcase, this is where Disney Imagineers bring you news and updates on all the things in development or coming soon to the Parks and Disney Cruise Line. This year they named it Horizons: A Carousel of Progress, and it was hosted by Neil Patrick Harris and streamed on Disney+.

Excitedly we tuned in to see what would be coming and we were not disappointed.

Disneyland Paris

Space
Hyperspace Mountain, the Star Wars overlay on Space Mountain, is being retired in summer 2027. Space Mountain is being rethemed back to where it started. It becomes Space Mountain: De la Terre ร  la Lune again, the Jules Verne name and story it opened under. For anyone who remembers the original, this is the announcement of the night. New details came for the first ever Lion King attraction at Disney Adventure World, though still no opening date. And there is a new parade coming to Disneyland Paris in 2028.

Disney Cruise Line

There has been a lot of anticipation about what new information we would discover from Disney Cruise Line, and what has been announced so far did not disappoint.

stern
The first section of the Disney Cruise Line segment focused on the Disney Believe, Disney's 9th ship and sister ship for the Disney Wish, Disney Treasure and Disney Destiny. We were given the first glimpse of which character would be adorning the bow and it was none other than Tinker Bell herself. We also found out that the atrium statue was going to be none other than the princess of the water herself, Moana. And for Toy Story fans, we finally have Woody and Buzz Lightyear on the stern. These were the only details for the Disney Believe announced, as there is a further update set for 7 October 2026.

There was also more on the new class of ship arriving from 2029. It sits between the classic ships and the Wish class in size, which means ports the bigger ships cannot reach. We have written that one up properly in three new Disney cruise ships for 2029. Disney is also doubling its sailings out of Southern California, and the Magic and Wonder are heading back to Alaska alongside a European season. That takes the fleet to thirteen ships.

The only thing we haven't had an update on from Disney Cruise Line is when the fall (autumn) 2027 and early 2028 sailings are going to be released. Hopefully we will find out more soon.

Walt Disney World

monstropolis
Monstropolis at Hollywood Studios and the reworked Walt Disney's Carousel of Progress are both arriving in 2027, ahead of schedule, though no exact dates yet. Monstropolis gets a theatre show called Welcome to Monstropolis and a Harryhausen's restaurant, and Carousel of Progress gains a new 1980s scene with Jamie Lee Curtis and Bryan Cranston voicing Mom and Dad. Villains Land at Magic Kingdom is getting two attractions, one inspired by Maleficent and one by the Magic Mirror, and the Cars expansion finally has names, Cars Ridge Run Rally and Miss Fritter's Daredevil Spin-Along. Over at Animal Kingdom there was detail on Indiana Jones and the Myth of the Jade Serpent, Antonio's Fiesta de Encanto and El Carrusel de los Animalitos, plus confirmation that the Expedition Everest Yeti is coming back to life.

dreamfinder and figment the dragon
At EPCOT, Dreamfinder returns alongside Figment for a new journey into imagination. The Dreamfinder reveal was at the end of the showcase and certainly one that was not expected. As a huge Figment fan myself, I cannot wait to see the reimagined ride when it happens.

Disneyland Resort

Disneyland Park is getting a new Tomorrowland. Over at California Adventure there is the first ever Coco attraction, plus Avengers Infinity Defense and Stark Flight Lab, both due in 2028. Remember... Dreams Come True and the Magic Happens parade are both coming back, and World of Color gets an updated version of the original.

The international parks further afield

Tokyo Disneyland lands Space Mountain: Earthrise and a Wreck-It Ralph attraction called Sugar Rush: Sweet Rescue. Hong Kong is adding new Avengers experiences, and Shanghai is building the first land anywhere dedicated entirely to Spider-Man.

Away from the parks

One last thing to include is that the popular Disney+ series The Imagineering Story will be getting a second season, which will be bringing you more behind the scenes footage and interviews with Imagineers on projects currently in production and what is still to come. It will reach screens in 2028.

What we make of it

There are some really exciting things coming to the parks and Disney Cruise Line in the coming years, and we cannot wait to experience them.

We will update this piece if any of the dates shift, because they always do.
