When we go to Disneyland Paris, one of the hotels we often stay in is Sequoia Lodge. It is a moderate hotel, within close walking distance of both Disney Village and the Disney parks. It is a really nice place too, split across the main hotel building and six additional lodge buildings.
A cosy wilderness retreat
The theming here is all about the great outdoors. Think tall pines, natural wood and stone, and that unmistakable national park lodge atmosphere. It is not the hotel you pick if you are after princesses and pastel colours, but if you love somewhere warm, characterful and relaxed, Sequoia Lodge delivers every time. Winter is when we love it most.
With the open fire lit in the bar area, there is nowhere nicer to sink into a comfy seat with a drink and thaw out after a day in the cold. It is genuinely one of the cosiest spots on the whole resort.
The rooms
The rooms are nicely done. We would call them fairly basic, but they are comfortable, well kept and have everything you need for a trip where you are out in the parks most of the day. Handily, you get tea and coffee making facilities in the room, which is not something every Disneyland Paris hotel offers. Some rooms come with a balcony, which is a lovely bonus if you can get one. If you fancy treating yourselves, the hotel also has its Golden Forest Club level, a club floor with upgraded rooms and extra perks for a more premium stay.

Bars and restaurants
There are two restaurants in the hotel, Hunter's Grill and Beaver Creek Tavern, and both are buffet style. That makes them a great option for families, and for those days when you just want to eat as much or as little as you like without any fuss. It is handy having dining right there in the hotel when you do not fancy heading back out.
There is also the Redwood Bar and Lounge, a rustic bar for drinks, coffee and light snacks beside a large open fireplace. It is the cosy spot we mentioned earlier, and a lovely place to relax with a drink at the end of the day.
The pool, gym and shop
Sequoia Lodge has its own pool and a gym, so there is somewhere to unwind or keep active without leaving the hotel. The pool also has an outdoor section, which is great during the warm summer months in France. The shop is very good too, one of the better hotel shops we have come across, and well worth a browse for Disney bits and pieces, snacks and anything you might have forgotten to pack.
Meet a character
One lovely touch is the daily character meet, held inside the hotel just opposite the shop entrance. It is a great chance to grab a photo and a hug without the queues you often find over in the parks, and a really nice way to bookend a day at Disneyland Paris.
Location
Location wise, Sequoia Lodge sits around the lake, and it is roughly a ten minute walk to Disney Village and on to the parks. The stroll around the water is a pleasant one, and being that close to everything makes popping back to the hotel during the day nice and easy.
A hotel in transition
At the time of writing, Sequoia Lodge is going through a refurbishment, so some things may look a little different depending on when you visit. We will update our thoughts once the work is complete, but the heart of what makes it special, that cosy wilderness feel, is not going anywhere.

All in all, Sequoia Lodge remains one of our favourite places to stay at Disneyland Paris. It is cosy, comfortable and full of character, and in winter especially, there is nowhere quite like it.
